About
Anne Rankin
Spending her more recent years trying to develop a new style of portraiture, Anne has greatly evolved as a painter.
Although she began her career on the "realist" end of the spectrum, her recent comprehension of Post-Modernist and Contemporary art has become evident in her body of work. Beginning many of her artworks with a vague emotion or a basic color palette is enough to get her brush moving. What was once the act of recreating an image of a person, is now the art of creating the feeling of who that person is or was.
Commissions drive many of these works, therefore the subjects are ever-changing. Color within her paintings is highly saturated, adding to their initial impact. Additionally, Anne is beginning to explore more abstract methods. Exploring this is an ongoing, and fascinating endeavor.
